2793 SMC 081All aspects of pastoral care and guidance at St Mary's are regarded as a partnership between the school, parents and the girls. Channels of communication are wide-ranging and frequent between the Head, Housemistresses and Tutors.

Each girl in every year group has her own Tutor – an academic member of staff who is responsible for her welfare and guidance and who will listen to and resolve any issues which arise. The Tutors also help to prepare the girls for university entrance.

We have our own Chaplain – morning Chapel for the whole school happens every day – who is always willing to listen and help, and we have our own Counsellor.

Our experience shows that young people decide for themselves to whom they can talk most easily. The structure at school responds well to such needs and offers many opportunities for support of the individual - in a comparatively small school like St Mary's there are no barriers and we foster a positive inclusive atmosphere.
