The Plumbing & Heating Engineer is responsible for undertaking planned, proactive and responsive maintenance, repairs and servicing of domestic and commercial plumbing and gas central heating systems and above ground internal drainage systems on a wide range of mechanical services plant and equipment in all buildings across the campus.  In addition to the Plumber's specialised tasks, the successful candidate will slot in to the wider Premises Team when a more collaborative approach to general works is necessary.

Tennis Professional - Visiting Teacher

September 2021 

Starting in September 2021 the successful candidate will be working as an employed member of the coaching team alongside 5 experienced Professional Tennis Coaches.  The role will initially be coaching girls aged 11 to 18 while contributing to building a successful under 11 programme.  Candidates must be able to demonstrate their passion for tennis, ability to inspire, coach content that is current and show that their clients have progressed under their tuition.  Candidates must be positive, enthusiastic, be willing to learn, develop and further their coaching credentials.  They must also evidence good communication skills and be willing to work as part of a fun, dynamic and positive team.

Science Technician - Physics

September 2021 

There is an opportunity for an experienced Physics Technician to join our award-winning team (Platinum Science Mark 2018-2021).  The successful candidate will work alongside a Biology Technician and a Head Technician (with Chemistry specialism) to organise and prepare practical activities, provide specialist technical support for Physics (including classroom support) and will also support the other services of the Science Department resulting in a full, varied and satisfying role within the team.

This position is offered on a term time basis (working 36 weeks per year including one week in the summer holidays), 36 hours per week, Monday - Friday.  A September 2021 start is required.

Art Technician - September 2021

We are seeking to appoint a skilled and experienced individual who has excellent communication skills from the start of September 2021. They would have full technician responsibilities that include managing and maintaining a variety of systems and processes in place to support the running of this busy department.  Having basic DIY skills would be advantageous, but most importantly, having the ability to engage with, and provide technical and creative support to students is essential. This position would suit an individual who would like to be part of a creative, happy and dynamic team.

The Art Technician works 35 hours per week Monday-Friday in school term time (35 weeks per year).  Immersed in the activities of the department, the Technician will prepare lesson equipment and support teaching staff with day to day tasks and exciting annual projects.

Junior IT Technician - Immediate Start

Starting asap, and based at our Prep School site (ages 2-11), the Junior Technician is a one year post and would suit someone on an IT based degree course, or someone recently qualified.  Offering IT support to teaching, admin and senior staff alongside preparation for lessons and events. 

This is a full-time position mainly based at St Margaret’s School, it will include some time at our senior school St Mary’s which is situated on the same site, thus ensuring that the IT support is consistent across both.  This will have the added advantage of allowing a broader experience of working in the educational sector.  Accommodation is offered for this position if required.

It will be essential to have someone in post by September, however, an earlier start would be advantageous for training prior to the start of term.

Grounds Person / Gardener - Immediate Start

Starting as soon as possible, this full time role will suit an experienced Groundsperson or Gardener.  Working 8 hours per day, Monday - Friday (with the occasional Saturday morning on duty), the successful candidate will be physically fit, have experience with the usual equipment required for lawn and hedge maintenance (including PA1 /PA6 certification as an advantage), should have basic plant knowledge and a desire to work as part of a team of 4 Grounds staff of varying experience. The team covers a 24 acre site consisting of ornamental beds, grass and paved areas, sports pitches and established trees and shrubs.  The Grounds team also assist with the preparation of outdoor events and activities working alongside the Premises department under one manager.  St Mary's prides itself on ensuring that grounds are beautifully presented for the enjoyment of our pupils, parents, staff and visitors and the successful candidate will want to part of this achievement.

Chef - September 2021

Offering basic hours of approx. 35 hours per week on a rota basis, the Chef will join a team of 12 existing Chefs, under a Head Chef and Second Chef, overseeing busy services for breakfast, lunch and supper. In the region of 250 students plus staff reside on site (boarding, 7 days per week), rising to 500 students plus approximately 300 staff attending for lunch during the week.  Menus for day to day meals and school functions are created in house and cater for a wide range of dietary requirements and are cooked and presented to a very high standard.  Shifts include early, late and weekends. The successful candidate will be calm under pressure and excited by the prospect of joining our school team. 

Employed on a term time only contract, the School Chef will work term time weeks while students are on site (36 weeks per year) and the annual salary will be pro-rated accordingly, and paid in 12 equal monthly instalments to ensure a regular income. The school offers a pension scheme with generous employer contributions and summer overtime is an option during periods of school lettings.

Driver - September 2021

Offering casual driving hours as and when required, with the option of regular weekly minibus cleaning and re-fuelling (Monday & Thursday, approx 10 hours per week) and a permanent Monday evening trip run (3 hours per week) during term time, the Casual Driver is paid an hourly rate on a zero-hours contract offering flexibility to both the employee and the school. 

The Driver (preferably D1 trained but training will be offered) is responsible for pre-journey vehicle checks and safe passage of students and staff.  The successful candidate will present themselves in a professional manner and be able to communicate effectively with pupils, staff and parents.
