First full day in Bude

  • Post category:General

Monday 18th June

Today was our first full day in Bude!

In the morning the girls chose to either swim in the cold sea pool, or a  take short run around the beach. This was followed by breakfast and then the first timetabled activity with their tutors.

Many of the girls chose to abseil while the remainder went mountain biking. A number of LIV girls flew down the rock wall while there were a few that were a bit more hesitant up at the top. They persevered, and in the end a majority of the girls made it down. The mountain bikers were taken on a trail ride that included small bridges, steams, sheep, obstacles and lots of mud! Both sessions were great as the sun was out and there were clear blue skies.

After lunch and a quick rest the LIV went caving. The caves are man-made tunnels underneath the centre. They worked well together, communicating and guiding one another through the pitch black tunnels all the while looking very stylish in their boiler suits and head lamps.

Before supper was tutor time in which they recapped the day and some participated in ‘Bude school of Rock’ which is a room full of musical instruments.

Tonight is karaoke as well as parachute games on the astro, which the girls are looking forward to before heading to bed to rest up for another full day tomorrow.

Thoughts on the day:

“Bude has been really, really good. I have found it challenging and sometimes quite hard but lots of fun all the same. I can’t wait to do kayaking and surfing! And I got really muddy in mountain biking today!”-Louise

“Bude is really fun. You always have something to do. The instructors are really nice and funny and the food is amazing.”-Gaby

“The abseiling I did today was amazing. I think caving is the best because you get to play lots of games in the caves and get over your fears. “-Teresa
