BBC Young ReporterMany congratulations to UIV (Year 9) girls, Evie and India, who are through to the final round in the BBC Young Reporter Competition, having been shortlisted from thousands of entries to potentially have their stories professionally made and broadcast by the BBC on either TV, radio, online or social media platforms.

Back in October, and as part of the school's Donaldson Week, the UIV heard from the British Television Journalist Sue Turton about the rigours and realities of being a journalist. Sue has worked for Sky News, Channel 4 News and Al Jazeera, amongst other news organisations.

The BBC Young Reporter challenge, a competition based on encouraging young people to speak about experience with honesty and clarity, asked children to write a pitch on a topic of their choice, which could be presented in video or in writing.

The subjects of these pitches varied wildly - some tales uplifting, some sad, some reflective. However, all of them were relevant and thought-provoking pieces of work which clearly showed that Calne Girls have a tale to tell.

We are delighted for Evie and India and wish them the best of luck in the final round. Well done to both girls!
