Classics SymposiumOn Friday 14th September the wonderful UVI (Year 13) Classics students put on a Classical Symposium.

All the girls and staff dressed up in togas or came as figures from the classical world.  Miss Cavanagh looked amazing, as did Nimi as Neptune. The food was based on what the Greeks and Romans would have eaten and included breads, cheeses, meats, olives, taramasalata, Greek yoghurt, figs, grapes, honey cake and so on.

Enjoying a glass of nectar following a prayer to Zeus, the evening began with a rendition of the opening scene from Aristophanes' Frogs performed for us by Nimi and Aisha.  It was most entertaining!  On a more serious note, Bella read a poem by Horace and Hannah an epigram by Catullus. These were delivered in both Latin and English so that everyone understood. The serious part out of the way, the girls and staff then went on to enjoy themselves with classical charades and Pictionary.  A wonderful time was had by all.  Long may this tradition last!
