On 7th February the LIV and MIV girls joined young people across the country taking part in Internet Safety Day. The theme this year was ‘Be the Change: Unite for a better internet’. The aim this year is to encourage young people to work together to be positive, safe and respectful online.

In particular, the girls explored the ways young people use images (selfies) and videos to communicate online, and how this can impact on their views, wellbeing and reputation. They also looked at how the media promotes unrealistic images of people; airbrushed to an impossible level of perfection and setting a standard that causes many people to feel inadequate.

The slideshow shows some of the selfies and memes created by the girls.
