Our first Calne Girls Association (CGA) talk of 2017 was given by 1993 Leaver, Clare McKeon, who spoke to the girls about her fascinating career in the art world.

Having left Calne in 1993, Clare went on to study Geography at Oxford before obtaining her Masters in History of Art at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London.

She joined Christie's as a postgraduate in 1998 and in 2003 co-ordinated the sale of the Forbes Collection of Victorian Pictures, the largest and finest private collection of Victorian art to come to auction in modern times. Clare then transferred to New York as an Assistant Vice President of the British & Irish Art Department and Head of the Sporting Art Sale. She became a Vice President and ran the sales until 2007, also training and practising as an Auctioneer. She then moved to a part-time role and attended courses at the New York School of Interior Design. In 2010 she set up her own Interior Design Consultancy and undertook several projects in Connecticut and New York. In 2015 she moved back to London into a new role as a Consultant in the UK Chairman’s Office.

Clare's talk, which was rounded off with a lively question and answer session, was very much enjoyed by all the girls.
