On Sunday 22nd January, 18 girls spent the day practising their micro-navigation skills in preparation for their Gold Duke of Edinburgh's expedition.

Blessed by clear, dry but cold weather they practised navigating to features such as contour lines. They used techniques such as pacing and leap-frogging to ensure that they were able to follow a bearing in terms of distance and direction (the bin bags were used to mimic the effects of reduced visibility in fog!) Time was also spent refreshing some first aid skills and the day was wrapped up with some role-play scenarios involving well-acted fake injuries.
