Friday 13th was a very lucky day for St Mary’s as we were chosen to host a Google Virtual Reality Day. All pupils from LIV to LV, as well as some of the LVI, were taken on a virtual reality journey that was pertinent to an area of the curriculum that they were studying.

The LIV visited the Battle of Hastings, the MIV the Caribbean reef, the UIV the Great Wall of China and the LV the Bornean Rainforest. With the headsets on (Google Cardboard consists of two lenses in a special cardboard box and a smart phone) the girls were able to explore these environments in great detail. The teachers assisted and directed the girls to points of interest to explain the key features, which led to some fascinating discussions and discoveries.
