Oxbridge TalkOn 26th April, we were joined by Hazel Wigginton from Merton College, University of Oxford, who came to talk to the girls about applying to study at Oxbridge.

She gave an informative presentation in which she reflected on exactly what the two institutions were looking for and how they assess their potential applicants. The key message was that a genuine interest in your subject has to be at the heart of an application and she explored the various ways in which students could demonstrate that they have gone ‘beyond the specification’ in order to engage more deeply with their chosen field. She also discussed the importance of demonstrating how you develop a line of argument and highlight the thinking behind it. These are all things that the LVI Form will be exploring in more detail in the latter part of this term when their attention turns to starting their applications to Higher Education and we look forward to working with them throughout the process.
