The lacrosse Home Internationals took place over last weekend (16th/17th April) hosted this year by England at the Surrey Sports Park in Guildford. St Mary’s LVI girls Iona and Jemima made their debuts for their country playing for the England U19 B Team in the Junior B Tournament.

Their matches took place on Saturday and Sunday playing first Wales U19B and then Scotland U19B. The England Team came out with convincing wins from both matches (20-2 and 21-0 respectively) with the St Mary’s girls both scoring.  The girls were hugely grateful for the enthusiastic sideline support. Also playing was our own Miss Smith in the England Senior A Team and the girls and the large Calne contingent of supporters - girls, parents and staff - were able to enjoy a nail-biting and inspiring match between England and Wales as the final match on Sunday afternoon.  The play was fast and furious and although Wales took an early lead, England ultimately triumphed.

It was a wonderful opportunity to see lacrosse played at the highest level and we wish Miss Smith and her team mates well in their preparation for next year’s World Cup.
