Nineteen girls travelled to Palma for the pre-season tennis training at Vilas Tennis Academy. We arrived at our hotel late in the afternoon but there was still time to have a swim, spa and jacuzzi before our supper. There was so much choice of food to prepare us for our oncoming five days of tennis training, including steak, sushi and caviar!

The girls enjoyed two hours of training in the morning and one hour in the afternoon with their instructors, followed by lots of matches and the Milka Cup! Winners of the biggest Cup in the world included Amelia, Sophie, Caroline, Sylvia, Emily and even bigger wins came from the 'Around the World' game which Sophie and then Tilly won.

We had some fantastic coaches including Sergio, who is the coach to the Russian Davis Cup Team. They put the girls through their paces and really worked them on their movement and range of shots on court.  The girls had time to go swimming both in the outside pool and in the sea; the locals thought we were mad and were all dressed in their thermals. At one point the jellyfish stopped play, but once they disappeared we were off again!

We had three hours of training on Saturday and then took the bus into Palma where we explored the cathedral and did some shopping in the lovely old town.  We had one day of rain but we filled that with a full spa day and walks on the beach and around to the bay of Palma Nova. Apart from that we had sun every day and it was very hot, with factor 50 just about keeping the sun at bay.

The girls had a fantastic week, their tennis really improved and they are now fully prepared for the tennis season this Summer Term .
