It is Rocket Science!

On Tuesday 26th April, the LIV Form began their participation in the Royal Horticultural Society and UK Space Agency’s Rocket Science Project, which is giving around half a million UK children the chance to learn how science in space can contribute to our knowledge of life on Earth, using the invaluable expertise of the European Space Agency (ESA) and RHS Science Team.

Bronze DofEOn Saturday 24th April, having met their Assessors first, four teams of LV girls set out on their two-day DofE Qualifying Expedition.

On Friday 22nd April, all the MIV and LIV Form girls went to Waterlands, Cotswold Water Park, to take part in the watersports section of their Challenge and Adventure (CAA) course. 


Fourth Form girls enjoy a wonderful Spanish trip

Fourth Form Spanish TripOn Tuesday 26th March, 21 of the girls studying Spanish in the Fourth Form set off in the early hours of the morning for Heathrow accompanied by Mrs Bolton, Mrs Villalobos Ruiz and Mrs Wilkinson. We caught an early morning plane to Bilbao and we were at the wonderful Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao in time for lunch where some girls enjoyed their first tapas of the trip. After lunch in the museum café, the girls enjoyed exploring the Museum.


Girls rise to the challenge for Silver DofE Expedition

Silver DofEAt the end of the Spring Term, 32 students set off in six groups to complete their three-day Silver DofE Practice Expedition. Each group was dropped off at their various starting points along the A4 and walked south towards their campsite at Lydeway, near Devizes.

Success at the European Intermediate Maths Kangaroo Competition

Kangaroo Maths CompetitionFollowing their outstanding performances in the UK Intermediate Maths Challenge, four girls - Coco, Florence, Hannah and Polina - were invited to enter the Pink Kangaroo competition. An additional three girls - Georgia, Georgina and Shubha - were invited to take part in the Grey Kangaroo competition.

Girls make their debuts for England Lacrosse Team!

Lacrosse Home InternationalsThe lacrosse Home Internationals took place over last weekend (16th/17th April) hosted this year by England at the Surrey Sports Park in Guildford. St Mary’s LVI girls Iona and Jemima made their debuts for their country, playing for the England U19 B Team in the Junior B Tournament.
