Marden House QuintetSince Tuesday 6th October’s success at the annual Calne Music and Arts Festival 2015, St Mary’s has contributed two further highly enjoyable performances to the Festival.

Firstly, members of staff from the Music Department collaborated to give a rare performance of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Quintet for Piano and Winds in B flat.  Simon Parker (clarinet), Jennie Mason-Smith (flute), Alta Ridgway (piano), Cathy Springate (oboe) and Allen Cheshire (French horn) played to a large and appreciative audience at Marden House.  The music formed a fitting ‘Coda’ to the evening’s earlier entertainment from girls in the UIV and UV.  Following on from this, on Saturday 10th October, UV Form pupil Rachel performed a piano solo in the ABRSM High Achievers’ Concert, having been invited, due to her achieving a distinction in her latest piano exam earlier in the year.  She gave a very musical account of Pleyel’s Adagio, set for grade 5, to a full house.

We look forward to returning to the Festival again next year.
