lucyCongratulations to Year 13 Sixth Form Art Scholar, Lucy, who has had a selection of her A Level work shortlisted for the prestigious Cardiff School of Art and Design's CSADCeramics Excellence Award.  Lucy's work will go on display as part of their annual exhibition in June and she will await the results of the judging. As a future ceramicist, her work pushes boundaries that explore themes of gender, taste and social hierarchy. She certainly is one to watch in the emerging art world.

Ceramics on a national level, having sustained a period of decline and presence in schools and universities, is again coming to the fore. As a country with a long and bountiful history in British studio pottery as represented by Bernard Leach, William Staite Murray, Dora Billington, Lucie Rie and Hans Coper, it is wonderful to see institutions that have developed courses of national significance engender the skills and creativity within the medium.
