Girls enjoy Ski Trip to Austria

During the February Half Term, 19 girls plus Mrs Baldwin, Mrs Hornby and Miss Turley, left a very gusty (Storm Dennis) Stansted, bound for a Ski Trip in Axamer Lizum, Austria.

'We eventually arrived in our ski resort and got our skis and boots ready for our Monday morning lessons. We had lessons every day from 9am - 12 noon and then from 1pm - 3pm. The girls were split into three groups depending on their ability. The weather was amazing - we had the bluest of skies and even some fresh snow to ski on. The top group were off and flying around the mountains, while the beginners were on the nursery slopes. Throughout the week, everyone improved and gained in confidence and it was very exciting to see. The evening activities included: visiting the Olympic Ski Jump in Innsbruck; a cultural trip of Innsbruck; swimming in a lazy river (not so lazy ); a disco (with Miss Turley on the decks!); quiz night; a night torch walk; bum boarding and a lot of hot chocolate! Every evening we awarded the 'Monkey Award', later to be called 'Pablo'. This light-hearted award was for silly mistakes (which included going up lifts the wrong way and skiing backwards) and Sophie, Freya, Alizeh, Miss Turley and Tilly were all recipients!

On the last day, the beginners' group managed to go up the mountain and ski down a blue and a red run; they were very competent and so happy that they got to the bottom. The advanced group even managed the Women's Olympic down hill slope.  At the end of the trip, we also had an awards' ceremony: Most stylish skier - Arabella; Queen of the lifts - Freya; The Perseverance Award - Annabelle; The All-rounder Award - Molly; The most improved skier - Mia and the happiest on the slopes - Maria.

It was a fantastic week where everyone learnt a lot, as well as having great fun.'  Mrs Natalie Baldwin
