ESAA Track & Field Cup brings out the best in our Athletes

ESAA Track and FieldRound 1 of the ESAA Track & Field Cup took place on Wednesday, 8th May at the County Ground, Swindon. Despite the miserable weather, all athletes performed very well, with both teams finishing 2nd to South Wilts Grammar out of the seven schools.

Swim RelaysWith 15 schools scheduled to compete at the Independent Boarding Schools Swimming Relays on 1st May at Downe House, we knew it would be a tough competition. The overall result would be decided by the age groups' collated points; the girls did not disappoint!

Equestrians excel at Swalcliffe

swalcliffe equestrianA huge congratulations to Daisy (Year 9) for finishing in 2nd place in the 80cm One Day Event class at Swalcliffe on Sunday 28th April. Daisy has now qualified for the Schools Equestrian Games Championships which take place in October.

Girls compete for England and Wales at the Lacrosse Home Internationals

Home InternationalsThe 2019 Home International Series was held at Aldershot Barracks on 5th - 7th April. The usual teams were joined this year by the guest nation, Germany. Caroline (Wales) faced Amelia and Ella (England) in the first match of the tournament; it was a tightly fought match and great to see Ella and Caroline battle out the draw against each other.

Easter Equestrian Exploits

On the first weekend, we headed to Moreton for one of the first events of the eventing season; we got off to a flying start with all the girls putting in solid performances.

Lacrosse Southwest U12A late night at the Spring Concert was not ideal preparation for the end of lacrosse season highlight, but with so much to pack into a short term, we just had to get on with it - and that we did!

Lila selected to ride for GB in the Nations Cup

Lila Bremner Many congratulations to Lila Bremner (Year 11) and her pony Lappi on being selected to jump as an Individual for Great Britain in the Nations Cup at Opglabbeek in Belguim in April.  A fantastic achievement!

Great play at Condover Hall Netball Tour

netball at CondoverOn Friday 15th March, the U14 and U15 Netball Teams set off for the annual Netball Tour at Condover Hall in Shropshire. We stopped in Shrewsbury en route for some sight seeing and shopping, before eventually arriving at the magnificent Condover Hall.

St Mary's inaugural indoor sprint Triathlon raises funds for Macmillan Cancer Support

TriathlonOn Sunday 10th March 42 girls, teachers and parents gathered in the fantastic new Sports Centre to compete in the school's first ever indoor sprint triathlon. Girls from all years competed alongside their families and teachers in order to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Competitors and their supporters have thus far raised £1,900 for this wonderful charity, and the mood at the event was electric.

National Schools Lacrosse Championships, 2019

Lacrosse Nationals U19There was, understandably, much excitement and anticipation on the lead up to the 2019 National Schools Lacrosse Championships. A new venue, a strong 1st Team and an army of supportive and enthusiastic parents (and grandparents) arrived at Aldershot Garrison on the morning of 2nd March for the first day’s play. Tents were inflated and picnics prepared, as the players warmed up and set about achieving our number one goal, which was to win the section.

Girls enjoy an introduction to Fencing

FencingDonaldson Week kicked off with an introduction to fencing for the Year 8 girls. We were lucky enough to have Tim Miles, U20 GB Coach, return to St Mary’s to deliver the session.

Fantastic week of Ski Racing in Flaine

Ski FlaineOn Friday 25th January, our Ski Race Team of seven girls flew out to Flaine, France, to take part in the British Schoolgirls' Races. It was the 60th anniversary of the races, so it was quite a special occasion.
