Since the Government announced that all schools should close on Friday 20th March, we have been providing high quality remote education through our virtual school, Calne Connected. It offers a stable platform with significant face-to-face teaching and support, with minimal disruption to the girls’ learning.

Government guidance published on 25th May gave key recommendations for opening up schools for Years 10 (LV) and 12 (LVI) from Monday 15th June. Although we are really looking forward to seeing all the girls and staff back on campus, the guidelines and planning has revolved around day rather than boarding schools and this guidance makes it impossible for a boarding school like St Mary’s to open this term. Given the success of our online provision, we will continue to operate as a Virtual School for all year groups until the end of the Summer Term.


Looking forward to next term, we will be guided by the advice from the Department for Education. In addition, we have adopted the Covid-Safe Charter and will meet the following requirements when boarding reopens:
