Weekend Lacrosse and Netball

NetballCLCAt least the improved weather last week meant that the netball matches went ahead and the teams managed to enjoyed some competitive games. The U16 and U15 teams easily beat Malmesbury whilst the U14s struggled with Marlborough (more mentally than physically). The junior teams played Cheltenham Ladies’, and congratulations go to the U13B and C teams and U12A and Bs who all won.

The end of the week saw the National Schools Tournament and the highlight of the Lacrosse season- although our 6.45am breakfast slot at the Holiday Inn was not so welcome. Nevertheless, it meant that the 1sts were straight out of the starting block on Day 1, playing some fantastic lacrosse to win five out of our six matches on Friday. This qualified us for the championship division for the top 16 in the country. Competing hard and staying in every game, we far from disgraced ourselves, losing to Wycombe 2-4 and Guildford High 1-3. In the last 16 play off match we ended up losing 1-3 to Downe House. Meanwhile the 2nds did not have such a good start but saved their best for day 2. Qualifying for Division 2, sights were firmly set on some silverware. After winning three and drawing one, we played CLC in the quarters, resulting in a 3-1 win. St Barts in the semis- again 3-1 win and despite scoring first in the final against St Swithun’s, we couldn’t sustain the pressure and succumbed 1-3. Runners Up was a very commendable achievement. Well done to all who competed.
