After a delicious breakfast, consisting of bacon, pancakes, eggs and more, we loaded our luggage onto the coach and walked down into Georgetown. Many of us enjoyed painting tables with nail polish in urban outfitters and browsing the local shops and relaxing in Starbucks. We then met our coach and drove to Baltimore. Passing the famous stadiums of the superbowl champions, Baltimore Ravens and the Major League Baseball team Baltimore orioles we arrived at the pretty inner harbour for a quick walk around and lunch. We had a range of pizzas, noodles and sandwiches. We then made the quick transfer to Towson University to meet the coaches of the women’s team who were to give us a two hour coaching session and our first experience of Lacrosse in the increasing heat. We all enjoyed the amazing facilities-own private locker room complete with physio benches and Annie took advantage of the trainers room. We learned to power shoot, defend and did some game play. Even though it was very hot we all managed to play well and stay focused. after receiving some great gifts we travelled to Cedar Lane Regional Park where we practised and played a friendly scrimmage with the U15 team of the Elite Lacrosse Club who were to be our hosts for the next two nights. In the cooling temperatures we experienced the skilful and committed approach of these young players. With some glimpses of speed, skill and tenacity on behalf of St Mary’s it was clear that we would need to step up our game tomorrow when we play their U17 team. But that would be after a night with our lovely host families who took us out to supper and provided us with a nice bed and incredible food.
