Last week our athletes were on specatular form. At the County Pentathlon, Caroline came 2nd while Susie came 3rd individually in Wiltshire in their respective age groups, significantly helping an U14 team silver and U12 team bronze for St Mary’s.
The poorly timed rearranged Track and Field schools cup ended up being a fantastic day and with many personal bests and high scores in the fine weather, we won both age groups. In the intermediates, Grace earned a huge 28 points for 1.68m in the high jump and Alicia threw 27.5m in the javelin, contributing to a massive 353 points for the team. This will hopefully be enough to take us to the A final at Millfield in a few weeks time. The junior team also did very well. Notable performnaces were from our two middle distances runners Davina and Susie in the 1500m.
On Saturday we enjoyed some very close and exciting tennis with St Swithuns, winning seven of the nine matches, but only just! Also on good form this week were our one day eventers. Charka, Effie and Sylvia were well-placed in the 90/95 cm class to secure a team 3rd out of 25 teams but on Saturday Abbie and Mouse won their section in the 80/85 class. A truly impressive achievement in this prestigious competition.
