Great Tennis and County Athletics

countyathletics_ARTAfter the wet weather for the Aegon Tennis mid week, where both the U13 A & B teams beat the Dauntsey’s A team, the sun came out on Saturday for our matches against Downe House. Matches were close and competitive with several necessitating a tie break but footwork, confidence and attacking play are still key areas for development. Of the nine teams who played, congratulations to the U15B,C and D and the U14C teams who all won, and the U14B and U13A who drew.

Meanwhile in Salisbury some of our best athletes were representing the North Wiltshire Area at the County Championships and Mrs Hornby believes we produced our best results ever in the competition with most St Mary’s girls getting on the podium. Particular outstanding performances were from Ariana Watling who won both the 200m and the 800m. Yasmin won the 3000m. Charlotte won the Minor girls High Jump with a new personal best and county record of 1.44m and Grace not only won the 100m but also set a new Wiltshire record and jumped a massice 1.70m in the Junior Girls High Jump! Congratulations to all who participated.
