This mammoth week of sport has left the majority of us, emotionally, if not physically drained! At the National Schools Lacrosse, there was significant disappointment on Monday when the promising U14’s just missed out on a place in the last 16, the U13’s made the play-offs only to lose to St Helen’s and St Katharine’s, a team we knew we could beat. The U15 A’s galloped through their section, beating CLC 10-1, they then beat Berkhamsted in the first round play off but couldn’t convert one of our six shots against Caterham, losing 0-2. The U15B’s missed a semi final spot on goal average, and the 3rds lost narrowly to Guildford High in the quarters. Surely we deserved some success sooner or later, and perhaps it was what we had learnt from earlier in the week, the U15 and U14 Netball Teams excelled at Boreatton Hall, the new Condover. Both teams made it to the semi-final stage before the U15s were outplayed by Royal Wolverhampton but the U14s beat Wardle in the semi final and Risca in the final to win the trophy!
Meanwhile on Saturday it was the South West Lacrosse Tournament for the U13 and U12 Lacrosse Teams at Westonbirt. The U13’s not only made the top four schools but very nearly won the tournament, pipped into second on goal average by Queen Anne’s. The U12’s, unbeaten all season, surely could do it. Couldn’t they? And as luck would have it, the day finally went our way and the U12’s were crowned South West Champions, beating St Swithun’s in the crucial game. Well done girls!
