Earlier in the term, we saw the launch of Mrs Lord’s Literary Soiree in our new sumptuous, state-of-the-art library. These Sixth Form intellectual huddles are a chance to discuss poets, writers, literary movements, and theories that enrich our understanding of what Literature is and can be. The inaugural session focused on ‘Surrealism’. We discussed the aims and objectives of the original movement in the 1920’s, whilst celebrating the female poets and artists of the time who were prolific yet only recently recognised. Next, on Monday 2nd November, a close-up on Baudelaire.
