Athletes reach new heights

  • Post Category:Sport

Our athletes continue to reach new heights and this year the U15 track and field schools cup team qualified for the regional A final at Millfield last Wednesday for the first time. As it was for the top eight schools in the South West it was inevitable that competition would be extremely tough and there were some outstanding athletes competing. With a few tired legs following Sports Day, we still produced a huge team effort and although finishing near the bottom, should be commended on getting this far.
On Saturday Grace presented Wiltshire in the High Jump at the SW championships in Exeter. This year she finished 2nd with a jump of 1.62m, losing to a girl who jumped 1.74m breaking the Championship record which has stood since 1975!
In Tennis, matches were played against Marlborough College last week. The U15s had a tough time of it, with the exception of our 1st pair, Jess and Flora, but the U14s held more than their own, winning U14B, C and D team matches, the U14Bs 9-0.
