The Sixth Form at St Mary’s offers a stimulating, vibrant and challenging environment for learning. We have high expectations of all of our Sixth Formers and aim to foster a life-long curiosity and excitement for their chosen subjects as well as the necessary skills to succeed in a rapidly globalising world. Our Sixth Formers have enquiring minds and we enjoy facilitating academic debate and higher level thinking skills within the St Mary’s framework of Connected Teaching and Learning. Small class sizes and passionate teachers mean that you can expect a tutorial-like environment.
Learning in the Sixth Form, however, doesn’t stop when you leave the classroom. We have a wide range of active academic societies all run by Sixth Formers who are keen to share their enthusiasm with the wider school community.
We place a strong emphasis on developing leadership in our Sixth Formers and each girl holds a position of responsibility as part of the Head Girl’s Team. There is no space for anonymity and the Sixth Form are at the heart of the school community and inspire the younger girls in all areas of school life.
The weekends in the Sixth Form are flexible and it is up to you how you decide to use them. You are able to organise your own transport for day trips to the local area and many students opt into the weekend activities that are on offer which range from film nights to socials with boys’ schools such as Winchester, Abingdon and Radley and much more besides.
