Skiing in Italy

Over Half Term, eleven Fourth Form and LV Form girls set off on a  ski trip to Bardonecchia, Italy, with Mrs Baldwin and Mrs Jones, where they enjoyed the Italian pizzas, entertainment, hot chocolates, discos and, of course, skiing!

A diary by Gabby, LIV Form (Year 7)

At 4.30am on a windy morning at Gatwick, 11 tired girls were stumbling with their suitcases.  A few hours later, we were in Bardonecchia, Italy, sleeping.

The next day we woke up early for breakfast, for skiing at 10am.  We split up into groups with our instructors.  Afterwards, we went to enjoy the entertainment in the theatre and had dinner.  On Tuesday we followed a similar routine.  After delicious croissants and hot chocolate at breakfast, we shook off the ice from our boots and got on with the skiing.  It was a big day for the beginners’ group with Luca, as they started a blue run, and later a red.  In the evening we had fun again, enjoying some different entertainment.

Wednesday was Lily’s birthday!  Probably the most embarrassing one she will ever have, as we sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to her six times and her cake was presented to her by a man in a mask!  We then went to the disco and eventually got to bed at 12.30am!

On Thursday we went ‘bum boarding’, sitting on little sleighs, and falling off a lot!  On Friday we enjoyed more skiing and then went to a pizzeria which was fun.

On Saturday we went to a music festival, a crêperie, had hot chocolate, went shopping (and bought chocolate!) and then headed home.  It was a fantastic trip!

“Being on the school ski trip in Bardonecchia was great! We did five hours of skiing a day and the hotel, atmosphere and food were great.  Overall it was an amazing experience! “  Clemmie, LIV Form
