Burns' Night 2012
On Tuesday evening, girls from UV Form upwards celebrated the birth of poet Robbie Burns in style! Mrs Thomas and her team produced a wonderful supper with steaming haggis, neeps and tatties and the most 'to die for' chocolate pudding!
The haggis was piped into the dining hall by Mr Dougherty with much ceremony and chef Janet presented it to Mr Graham Smith who addressed the haggis with great style and a dagger! Mr John Spicer told of greatness and relevance of Burns today in the Immortal Memory, which was most enlightening. Dr Fowler gave an inspiring toast to the lassies and Head Girl, Georgia amused us greatly with her reply to the laddies!
After supper the girls enjoyed songs by the bard beautifully sung by Mariella and friends: Kate, Millie and Devon-Jane. Poetry was recited by Isabella and Mr Smith. The evening continued with Mr Spicer and Zoe leading the singing of the Skye Boat Song and finishing with a rousing rendition of Auld Lang Syne. Mr Dougherty lead the party out with more glorious piping.
