Olympic Torch Relay 2012
Yesterday morning, Calne was lucky enough to have been visited by the Olympic Torch Relay. St Mary’s, along with St Margaret’s Prep School, joined the community and lined the streets to celebrate the passing of the torch. At 10.15am, the girls met in their Form Groups where they were all given their own flags to wave; some also took out some huge Olympic banners which they had created in their Art classes.
St Mary’s girls stood excitedly, cheering every vehicle that passed by even before the parade had started! Some girls were lucky enough to be given soft drinks by the sponsors as well as drums with which to make even more noise! But the real excitement started when Olympic Torch convoy came through, followed quickly by the torch itself! Some of the girls were even able to watch the flame change over between two runners. All in all, it was a beautiful and very memorable day for everyone at St Mary’s and St Margaret’s!
