St Mary's Inter-Schools Show Jumping Competition 2012

On Sunday 4th March, St Mary's held its third show jumping event at the West Wilts Equestrian Centre near Melksham. We had a wonderful turn out of competitors from schools around the region – in fact, we were completely oversubscribed for the event and had around 300 entries which was fantastic.  Despite the torrential rain (and later, hailstones) all the competitors were enthusiastic and there was a wonderful atmosphere at the show.  Parents and St Mary’s girls from across the school helped to ensure the event ran smoothly and to time.

There were four classes, each sponsored by a St Mary's Calne family and the St Mary's girls performed extremely well in all their classes against very stiff competition.

In Class 1, Annie, Millie, Georgia and Gemma came 5th as a team and Isabelle came 5th as an individual competitor.

In Class 2, the St Mary’s team comprising Isabelle, Katie and Georgia came 2nd; Gemma came 1st as an individual and Georgia 10th.

In Class 3, four St Mary’s girls came in the top ten as individuals – Bella was 4th, Tatiana was 8th, Bonnie 9th and Georgia 10th.

We entered 2 teams into Class 3 and both did extremely well.  Our Blue Team comprising Bella, Bonnie, Hope and Jess won 1st prize. Our Green Team (Tilly, Romilly, Katie and Tatiana) was 4th.

In Class 4, first place was won by Bonnie and 3rd place by Tatiana.  Bonnie’s cumulative points mean that she has won the cup for the Best St Mary’s Rider.

Congratulations go to all girls that took part in the day!

Special thanks go to Mrs Bartlett and Mrs Adderley for organising the event; to all the parents who gave up their Sunday to help steward and ensure the event ran smoothly and to the St Mary’s girls who helped out as officials for the day.
