Congratulations to Annabel who has been selected for the U19A Welsh Lacrosse Team for the Home Internationals in Edinburgh on 17/18th March.
The Final Trials were held last weekend in extremely cold weather. The competition was more intense than previously as the pool has grown to about 60 players. Annabel was vying for a place in the first or second team... it was going to be tough as over half the existing Welsh U19 World Cup squad were still eligible and a few of those players were also absent playing for the Seniors on tour in the USA but had been pre-selected for the U19 A Team.
Annabel had a fair bit of game time at WA but it was at WD that she excelled in the Final Trial match on Sunday afternoon ... she intercepted a pass in front of her defending goal from an existing World Cup player ... drove up centre field transitioned a quick hard pass to the right WA. She kept running and eventually took a return pass, kept going and stripped the defence and scored!
The selection meeting lasted about an hour and then it was confirmed that Annabel had been selected for the A Team. Good luck in Edinburgh Annabel!
