Getting into a Competitive University
This year’s Lecture Programme commenced with some expert advice on ‘Getting into a Competitive University’ from Doug Jennings, the Schools & Colleges Liaison Officer at Bristol University. He took the girls through the UCAS application process step by step, stressing that course research was vital when applying, and that information was readily available on University websites and the Course Search on UCAS Apply. He went on to emphasise that the UCAS application form was the one opportunity for an individual to really shine and gave some useful examples of what to do, and what not to do, on that all important Personal Statement, including a detailed explanation on structure and suggested content. He also stressed the importance of an early application in the Autumn Term to maximise the chance of gaining offers.
The overriding message for the evening was to go that extra mile - it might just make the difference!
