Excellent performances in St Mary's Aquathon

AquathonOn the last Wednesday of term, St Mary’s hosted an Aquathon. Depending on their age, the girls swim a defined distance, climb out, go through transition and complete a run through the school grounds. St Francis, St Margaret’s, Pinewood, Dauntsey’s and ourselves competed in the scorching temperatures, producing many excellent individual and team performances.

Girls run Lacrosse Taster Lesson at local Primary School

LVI LacrosseOn Tuesday 26th June, a group of LVI (Year 12) girls visited Priestley Primary School in Calne to run taster lessons in lacrosse. Keen to share their love of the sport and engage with the local community, this was a student-led initiative which saw the girls design a 30-minute workshop which introduced students to the skills needed to play lacrosse.

Equestrians shine at St Mary's Calne Horse Show

St Mary's Horse ShowWith the school year drawing to a close, this last term has been a busy one for the Equestrian Team at St Mary’s; it has been an absolute pleasure to work with such dedicated and professional young pupils. Last weekend (23rd June) we hosted our own school Horse Show; it was a busy, but successful day and we managed to run seven qualifying classes. 

 

 

Sports Day 2018

sports dayOn Tuesday 19th June, we had our annual St Mary’s Sports Day, with the event being held once again at Beversbrook sports facility. The weather was perfect for the competitors, with a cool breeze blowing the runners through the finish line.

Victory for Lauren at NSEA Show Jumping Qualifiers

LaurenCongratulations to Lauren (Year 12), who represented St Mary's Calne at the Dean Close NSEA Qualifiers at Rectory Farm on 10th June and won the 1.10 Class, taking the qualifying ticket to the National Championships!

Girls compete at Hickstead NSEA Eventers Challenge Championships

hicksteadIt was a glorious Bank Holiday weekend at Hickstead. The St Mary’s team of Alice, Isabella, Lily and Maddie had qualified for the NSEA Eventers Championships back on a dreary winter's day.

Inspirational Tennis Workshop with Judy Murray

Judy MurraySt Mary’s Calne Tennis Academy (SMCTA) was invited to represent Wiltshire at the South West Regional Judy Murray ‘She Rallies’ workshop at Coombe Dingle Tennis Centre in Bristol.  This workshop is a national LTA initiative to get more females involved with both playing and coaching tennis and it was a privilege for SMCTA to represent Wiltshire.

Track and FieldThe regional round of the Track and Field Cup held at the County Ground, Swindon, on 9th May, proved to be a very successful day for both our Inter and Junior Girls' Teams.

PentathlonThe Wiltshire County Pentathlon was held at Marlborough College on 14th May. We were very blessed with fantastic weather that allowed our girls to perform brilliantly throughout the day. 

Clare Balding opens New Sports Complex on 'Celebration of Sport' day

clare baldingOn Saturday 12th May we marked the opening of our new Sports Complex with a ‘Celebration of Sport’. Families, Governors, staff and friends of both St Mary’s and St Margaret’s schools were invited to an afternoon of family fun.

Swimming ChampionshipsSt Mary’s best results ever were achieved at the Independent Boarding Schools Swimming Relays Competition held at Downe House School on 2nd May.  There were 15 schools competing which resulted in a very competitive event.

Harriet wins Biathle and qualifies for GB Team at the Europeans
