Team Information
All girls in the LIV Form are included in the teams; we have a policy of inclusive competitive sport.
Lacrosse is played throughout the Autumn and Spring Terms, where an A Team which will involve up to 16 girls. We make every effort to have as many B Team matches as possible. Many schools however can only offer an A Team at U12 level. If this is the case we often have hockey or netball fixtures alongside the lacrosse.
Netball is played throughout the Autumn and Spring terms and we field A - D Teams.
The Junior Hockey Club will train weekly and keen hockey players are encouraged to participate in Club Hockey which usually takes place on Sundays.
Swim training and galas take place all year round.
The girls can enjoy Cross-Country Club and selected girls will be entered into competitions leading up to national level.
In the Summer Tennis and Athletics are the main sports and matches will take place throughout the week and on saturdays. We enter the Aegon Competitions A Team as well as friendly matches for A and B teams.
In Athletics, we have friendly matches and enter competitions to suit every ability level.
Matches
Netball matches take place weekly from the beginning of the Autumn Term. Lacrosse matches start after Half Term once the girls have begun to get to grips with what is usually a new sport for them. In the Spring Term, lacrosse matches continue. Hockey matches commence at the beginning of February. In the Summer Term, we have tennis, athletics and rounders matches and there are usually 3 or 4 swimming galas every term.
Clubs and Activities
All sports clubs, with the exception of swimming, are optional and girls are encouraged to sign up for those clubs which interest them. The following sports clubs are available every week:

Tennis Coaching
Tennis coaching is extremely popular and is an optional paid activity that takes place all year round.
Riding
Riding lessons are offered at Pewsey Vale Riding Centre within 30 minutes travelling time of Calne. The Centre has an indoor school with facilities for tuition of girls of all standards, on their own or on riding school ponies.
Ballet
Ballet lessons are offered at the end of the school day on a weekly basis by Samantha Black (RAD; RTS; CBTS; AIDTA). All lessons are one hour long.
Fencing
Skiing
Ski training takes place at Avon Ski Centre during the Autumn Term. The cost is approximately £12.50 (depending on the number of girls). This includes transport, equipment hire and coaching for one and quarter hours. For more information, please contact Mrs Natalie Baldwin.
Archery
Archery is a six week course which takes place at a shooting range at Springfield’s School where the girls learn the basics of bow and arrow skills.
Rowing
Rowing takes place over the Summer Term and the first half of the Autumn Term at the Minerva Rowing Club in Bath. The girls learn the basics of rowing and have the opportunity to row in 4's, 2's and singles as well as using the erg monitor to see their positioning and stamina.
Sailing
Sailing is held at the Cotswold Water Park where the girls practise in Picos and Toppers to learn the basic sailing techniques. The girls who are competing may also use this time to train for the Independent Schools Sail Racing Competition.
Shooting
Shooting takes place at the Gaunlett Sporting Company in Savernake, Marlborough. Here the girls learn the safety of gun handling and shooting. The basics of Clay Pigeon Shooting, looking at high and low clays and double shooting is also taught.
