On Charity Day, Mews House welcomed members of its chosen charity, a local First Response Team, to St Mary’s.
Two medics entertained and educated the girls by showing them first aid techniques and treating their “wounds”. They also brought their First Response car – the sirens and the flashing lights did not stop for long!
Girls throughout the school were invited to have their photos taken in fancy dress in their House groups, all of which can be viewed and purchased on the Hallmark Photography website. www.hallmarkphotography.co.uk (please contact Mews House for the password).
Later on in the day the whole school was entertained in Top Hall by a very energetic dance show produced by the Nigerian girls. It was an incredible performance, so much so everyone present stood up and joined in.
The new LVI Form year group on the first Thursday of term have a team building session called Teetering Towers - the girls get to know new girls and new form staff.
The plan is to work in groups to build the tallest towers with newspaper and sellotape - At times groups have to work without speaking, at other times only using one hand. At the end they have to balance an egg on top.

Paris 2007Four of our girls, Rose, Sophie, Jennifer and Beatrice, have recently returned from Paris where they spent two weeks living with French families and doing work experience at Fenlon, a French primary school. The girls were helping in classes of children ranging from 3-9 years old. They stayed with families of fifth form girls at Fenlon Senior School and used their evenings and weekends to explore the sights of Paris. We are looking forward to a return match when the girls from Fenlon visit us in June.
We had a party yesterday to celebrate the announcement of our new head girls’ team. Rose and her deputies, Sophie and Sophia, were delighted to hear the news of their appointments.
The LVI Form held a disco for Charity week for the LIV and MIV Form girls. Anna, Nellie and Flo were excellent DJs and showed off their latest dance routines.
We also arranged a fantastic montage of handprints of all the staff and girls which will be on display in school. The two events raised £84.67 which is going to be donated to Calne Food Bank along with the £500 that we had already raised at Christmas time with cards designed by a number of LVI Form girls. The Christmas card sales were coordinated by Michiru.
