Weekends at St Mary's

Weekends are an essential part of the boarding experience, and all day pupils are encouraged to take part in what is going on. After lessons on Saturday mornings, girls have the choice of an impressive range of activities. As well as matches and rehearsals, they can go on House outings – theatre trips or visits to local areas of interest for example – or enjoy the school facilities, which are all open at the weekend.

At weekends, activities include Matches, Theatre and Cinema trips, Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions, Field Trips, Socials, Company Events, Charity Initiatives, Music and Drama.

In addition to the trips and activities organised for all year groups, girls are free to rest and to relax with their friends e.g. in House, in the Art School, on the Tennis Courts and in our new indoor Swimming Pool.

For the energetic, weekend outings include ice skating, dry slope skiing, bowling and exploring the local Downs while other visits are organised to Marlborough, Bath and Oxford. The girls' suggestions for activities are welcomed. Girls in the Sixth Form enjoy the privilege of visiting Oxford on Saturday evenings.
