Hockey

Hockey takes place on our newly resurfaced floodlit Astro-turf as well as our grass pitches during lesson, club and team practice times. All girls are welcome to try out for the teams and represent St Mary’s during the Hockey season, which runs throughout the Autumn and Spring Term.

Fixtures are played against a variety of schools, including Stonar, St John’s Marlborough and local schools from Calne and the Chippenham area. St Mary’s has also hosted local area tournaments for a variety of age groups using our 3 grass pitches.

All members of the PE Staff are qualified to coach Hockey and we enter girls into trials for the Wiltshire Hockey Playing and Development Squads.

Hockey is also taught during the games programme as part of the Key Stage 3 and 4 Curriculum and matches takes place during match afternoons.
