Poore Company Supper

This year’s Poore Company Supper celebrated the themes of Circus and Funfair. As you can see from the pictures everyone made a superhuman effort and a veritable menagerie rolled up to the arena – well, to the Dining Hall anyway. There, thanks to the efforts of Isla, Mrs Thomas and their various troupes, we enjoyed a feast of hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, onion rings, and ice cream, all decorated with other nutritious zero calorie supplements. An assortment of clowns, lions, tigers, ringmasters, one human tightrope (No, really!), and a snake charmer with genuine snake (Mrs Thompson maintained it was real although it responded in no way to the dulcet tones of her Indian pungi), then proceeded to devour the lot.

The evening finished with a spectacular firework display – minus the fireworks. The many balloons left over had to be burst, and the sound of firecrackers reverberated around the dining room, as the sky outside was lit up by hugely impressive explosions and all the colours of the rainbow (we had to imagine the last bit).

So, a Big Top Thank you to everyone who took part and we look forward to next year.

Mr Malcolm
