On Saturday 19th January, the Chamber Choir travelled to Urchfont to give a concert at the Church of St Michael and All Angels. The programme featured sacred music from the Fourteenth to Twentieth Centuries and included several pieces for the season of Epiphany.
The programme concluded with Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols – the sequence of movements for three-part choir and harp from which the choir sang several movements in the School Carol Service in December. This was the first time the choir had sung the piece in its complete form, and it was a very useful experience ahead of forthcoming performances in Paris.
The girls acquitted themselves extremely well, and the very large audience – a mixture of locals and supportive parents - greatly enjoyed the evening.
