Shakespeare Workshop
On Monday 12th November, Year 6 pupils from St Margaret’s joined our Director of Drama, Miss Lilian Leadbetter, for a session of history, tragedy, comedy and a trading of insults, otherwise known as a Shakespeare Workshop.
Working through samples of text from
Henry V,
Macbeth and
A Midsummer Night’s Dream, with St Mary’s girls’ as assistant directors, we could certainly see a few future thespians in our midst. Performance and diction were impressive as was the children's ability to explain the plot of
A Midsummer Night’s Dream – no mean feat!
Against the beautiful scenery that is in place for
The Taming of the Shrew/The Tamer Tamed, ready for the performances in December, the pupils of St Margaret’s experimented with the versatile language of Shakespeare and were transformed into passionate leaders, eerie witches and disgruntled lovers.
