MIV Form Visit to SS Great Britain

On Monday 20th June, the MIV Form visited the SS Great Britain which has been restored at the Great Western Dockyard, Bristol. The ship, one of Isambard Kingdom Brunel's outstanding achievements, was the first large iron ship driven by a screw propeller.

The girls enjoyed touring the ship which is being restored to the condition of her launch in 1843. This has been a momentous task as it was only in 1970 that she was towed on a pontoon back from the Falkland Islands, little more than a rusting hull.
