Terrific Tennis and Track

The wet weather did nothing to dampen spirits or effect the standard of St Mary’s tennis teams this week. On Thursday, the U15A won their final AEGON match against St Edmunds. On Saturday, all three U15 teams beat Chetenham Ladies College, with the A team maintaining their unbeaten record for the whole term. The majority of the U14s felt the effects of their late return from St Malo but dug deep and put in some very fine performances against CLC and the A and D were victorious. At home the U13s enjoyed a narrow victory whilst the U12A and B team used every bit of energy left after Bude to win 6-3 and 3-1 respectively.

Meanwhile Yasmin and Ariana represented Wiltshire in the South West Athletics Championships in Exeter. Ariana came 3rd in her 800m heat and Yasmin came a very narrow second in the 1500m with a time that qualifies her for the National Finals. An impressive achievement.

Yesterday the Family Tennis Tournament went ahead despite the early rain. The Lily Salver was won by Sophie and her Father in the tournament for LIV and MIV. In the Calne Championship there were some more exciting and closely fought matches. Georgia and her Father knocked out Rosie and Harry in one semi final while Jemima and Fergus beat Romilly and her Father. The final went down to the wire and in a tie break decider, Georgia and Mr Williams beat the Browns to win the tournament.

Congratulations to all players and competitors.
