Girls battle the elements in matches and cross country

There were really close and exciting matches last week across all sports. Those coming out on top included the U13A and Bs, both winning their hockey matches against Hardenhuish School, and all five U14 teams winning against Dauntsey’s School in netball. Saturday’s weather tested even the toughest of sporting enthusiasts, but St Mary’s Calne players easily proved their resolve, resilience and robustness. The Lacrosse Teams took on Godolphin and Cheltenham schools in back-to-back matches on the astro, winning 7 of the 10 matches.  Meanwhile, in a mud bath that was the South West Schools Cross Country Championships in Cheltenham, Caroline and Lucy  represented Wiltshire in the U15 age group, while Davina and Susannah ran for the County in the junior girls. All had to endure the strong winds and heavy rain, running in the very worst conditions. We wait to hear whether they have qualified for the Nationals. Well done to all the girls who participated.
